Sports Massage Therapy for the Serious (and not so serious) Sporting Athlete

Sports massage therapists use massage to specifically benefit the participants of all sports and exercise regimes, whether you are a serious national or international athlete, exercise or play sport to keep fit or compete at club level. Even those who do not participate in sports will benefit from a sports massage as the posture of most people either when they are standing, sitting, driving, sitting at the computer, gardening etc. is often poor, thus resulting in stiff and aching muscles. People carrying out repetitive tasks such as factory workers, housewives, musicians, builders, window cleaners etc. would also benefit from sports massage therapy as it aims to help the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the soft tissues of the body, e.g. muscles, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissue. These are used continuously and repetitively whatever the sport or occupation so may well need regular attention. Sports massage differs from a normal "health and beauty massage" as application of the massage strokes is generally deeper following detection of areas which need attention.

Anna Hemmings, Britain's leading female marathon canoeist, current World and European Champion: "As an elite athlete, massage is of paramount importance to my recovery and prevention of injury. Lyn is an expert in her field of sports massage, she tailors
each treatment to my specific needs. Lyn has become an integral part of my weekly
recovery programme".
