Session Outline

Prior to the session the name, address, telephone and fax numbers of the horse's Veterinarian will be required to gain permission for the treatment of the horse under the Veterinary Act. Details may be forwarded to lyn@lynhopegood.com via email or provided over the phone. The name of the owner and horse together with owner's and horse's address will also be needed.

For the initial session please allow 1.5 hours. At the start of the session you will be asked to provide a detailed history of your horse to include temperament, injuries and schooling problems.

Observations will be made of your horse's:

  • environment;
  • temperament;
  • condition;
  • conformation;
  • posture;
  • foot balance;
  • saddle fit;
  • teeth.

You may be asked to show your horse:

  • in hand;
  • on the lunge;
  • loose;
  • ridden;
  • on different surfaces.

This will, of course, be dependent on factors such as facilities and age of horse.

Your horse will be given a sports massage, paying particular attention to specific problems.

As appropriate, your horse will be given passive and active stretches.

You may be given advice on:

  • maintenance;
  • some massage techniques you can use regularly;
  • how often your horse may need a massage;
  • ridden or in-hand exercises you can use to improve your horse's suppleness and athleticism;
  • whether your horse needs Veterinary attention.
